Get Involved in Arizona Peace Work
There are many things you can do to support the Department of Peace movement.
- write letters/postcards to our Congressional reps asking them to sponsor the HR 808 legislation; write your Senators asking them to introduce the legislation in the Senate.
- request appointments with your elected officials, with all civic and educational and religious groups; we will assist you in any way to obtain a face-to-face meeting
- talk with local Democrat & Republican elected officials to work on introducing DOP resolutions into our various government levels;
- spread the word to everyone you meet. (I wear my DOP pin every where I go, and people constantly ask me what the DOP is...a perfect invitation for me to explain this legislation.)
- write letters to the editor of any and all of our Arizona newspapers and magazines
- host your own DOP parties
- attend our monthly "inclusive" AZDOP party/meetings
- donate to our AZDOP nonprofit pending campaign, and / or to the national DOP campaign.
- BE the PEACE that we exemplify, everyday in every way.

Write Representatives: Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva of Tucson is the only Arizona Representative currently sponsoring this legislation. If Mr. Grijalva is your representative be sure to let him know you support his position on the bill.
Writing your local congressperson is the most important thing you can do. The most effective letters are handwritten, and if you know your representative, you can look him or her up on our list.
If you aren’t sure of which district you are in, use the Congress.org home page to find you representative.
Letter Writing Basics:
- state that you are a constituent, and that you vote
- share something personal that speaks to your own interest in the department of peace
- keep it simple
